A Full Breakdown of My Daily Skin Care Routine + Products
You all have been beating my Instagram and Twitter door down for my skin routine and the products that I use. Honestly, the recent photos and videos of my new mini fridge really upped the request lol. Earlier this week, I created a list that I rushed and sent out to a few people. I admit, it was poorly executed. The good thing that came from me creating this lazy list? The process of building it in my notes section on my iPhone really inspired me to create an in-depth walk-through of my morning, nightly and weekend routine. Also, if you haven’t, checkout my post on skincare tips for the summertime. Click below to read the full post.
Your daily routine, no matter the time of the day will consists of three things:
Cleansing — Washing your face.
Toning — Balancing the skin.
Moisturizing — Hydrating and softening the skin.
Caring for your skin is personal and that personal experience will never be the same for everyone. All our skin care goals are different. Our skin responds to certain products differently as well. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. Also, we have to keep in mind that we won’t see instantaneous results when caring for our skin. Skin care management and upkeep is a journey, a never ending one at that. So here’s a roundup of my morning, night and weekend routine.
Cleanse (Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser.)
Tone (Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel)
Serum (Pearlessence Perfecting Serum.)
Moisturize (Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer.)
Hydrate (Pearlessence Rose Water)

The weather in California, specifically the Bay Area has been incredibly warm lately. Like triple degree weather warm. To ensure my skin stays hydrated in these temperatures, I carry around rose water mist to sprits my face during the day if I feel it’s needed. Or I am using Glossier’s facial mist. (As seen above.) The products I use in the evening changes a bit. I use SheaMoisture products in the evening. I know they’ve gotten a lot backlash lately, but I’ve found that their skincare products still work for me. Also, I’ve been trying new products because it’s important to have a good gel and foam cleanser on deck.
Moisturize (SheaMoisture’s Balancing Cream)
At night, for a few nights, I had been testing out a skin peel by Versed which is a vegan skincare line sold exclusively through Target. I quickly noticed that I was starting to experience some dryness when using the peel. It could be the results of it actually working, but I am still on the fence. I tried the peel twice and stopped using it due to dryness in the morning. I do want to try and reuse it to see if I get different results. My plan is to reach out to the Versed team to inquire on if this is normal before continuing to use the product. Stay Tuned!
Another product I’ve been testing is the Versed Gel Cleanser. I have to say, I am beyond impressed. I went into testing their products with a really open mind. I had read a lot of articles about the launch on the web prior to use. And once the product officially launched, I was in love with the packaging and branding. And if you know me, you know I am a sucker for quality branding. Every target visit I’d pass by the product wanting to try it but didn’t right away due to skepticism. Finally, I got online, did my Googles and discovered that Versed allows you to take a skin decoder questionnaire on their site. The questionnaire is just their way of determining your skin type and what products best suit you. Once complete, they will recommend you products from their brand based on your skin type. Again, another cool thing about their site that had me sold. Anyways, so far, the cleanser is amazing. I see a radiant glow immediately after use and my skin genuinely feels light and soft after a full cleanse. This was a product that I initially intended to use in my nightly routine because I have this thing about milk cleansers in the mornings, gel in the evenings. (don’t ask lol) Since falling in love, I sometimes sneak and use the Versed Gel Cleanser in the morning now because it is literally amazing. Click below to shop the Versed site.
Other products on my list to try are a few items from Drunk Elephant and Youth to The People. Flawless skin cost money and these products ain’t cheap so, I’ll keep everyone posted when my skincare bank is replenished and can afford the new shit lol. Also, a while back, I invested in a Jade roller that I use daily. I chill my jade roller in my mini fridge before I use it. Applying your roller to the skin when chilled is honestly the best way to use it. Anyways, I kept seeing them being used and so, I looked up the benefits. Yes, I sometimes get sucked in buying things when my favorite influencers post them. I blame Michelle Lee, she’s given me mini fridge and jade roller fomo for at least a year now. While we’re all new to the jade roller craze, they’ve been a staple in Chinese skincare routines since the 7th century. Jade Roller’s are believed to aid in many healing and protective benefits for the skin, such as boosting blood circulation, reducing swelling, and allowing for deeper penetration of skincare products. The increase in circulation in the skin can help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Jade rollers help reduce puffiness and inflammation in the face due to stagnation of the lymphatic system. I naturally have puffy skin when I awake, so using it daily really helps me with this stuggle.
My Other Vital Skin Care Essentials:
I drink lots of water.
I get at least 6-8 hours of sleep daily. Yes, I believe exhaustion will age you like a banana.
I get professional facials every other month.
I believe in investing and taking time for my personal care. I don’t put a price tag on feeling/looking good.
I wear under eye gel pads for hydration on Sunday mornings.
Finally, I am not allowing anyone’s son or daughter to stress me out and that’s personally, romantically and professionally. Stress ages you and I refuse to age like a banana for someone that I can cut off or replace. Got questions for me about my routine? Shoot me a DM, email or tweet.
